Some Celtic stars now have international duty on the horizon following an impressive start to the campaign under Brendan Rodgers.

Capping off a five-game winning streak, the Bhoys saw off Rangers 3-0 last weekend to reclaim their place at the Scottish Premiership summit on goal difference.

While Callum McGregor is set to put his feet up during the break, James Forrest, Greg Taylor, and Anthony Ralston form the Celtic contingent that made the Scotland squad for their upcoming Nations League double-header against Poland and Portugal.

The Tartan Army kick off their League A campaign against Poland at Hampden this Thursday. Meanwhile, a trip to Lisbon is in store to take on Cristiano Ronaldo and company on Sunday evening.

However, latest developments have indicated two of the Celtic men named in Steve Clarke’s squad will now be absent for both matches.

Greg Taylor and James Forrest pull out of Scotland duty

Earlier today, the Scottish National team provided a squad update on X detailing that Taylor and Forrest have dropped out ahead of facing Poland and Portugal.

Che Adams and Robby McCrorie will also be absent, with both Celtic men replaced by Josh Doig and Connor Barron.

As of yet, it is unclear why either are set to be unavailable after initially being called up for international duty. Yesterday, The Daily Record reported that call-offs were expected amid only eight players being present for training on the first day of camp.

Ralston is now the only Celtic player involved in the Scotland set-up and could be given minutes against either Poland or Portugal. Sturm Graz defender Max Johnston is a direct competitor for his slot on the right-hand side of the backline.

Hopefully, Forrest and Taylor have only withdrawn from proceedings as a precautionary measure following their involvement against Rangers.
