Celtic draw St Mirren in Scottish Cup: Dates and details
Celtic have been drawn against St Mirren in the 5th Round of the Scottish Cup. The fixture will take place at Celtic Park.
The draw just took place at Hampden, with former Celtic star Shaun Maloney on duty to pull the balls out of the hat across the Scottish FA’s social media channels.
The match is due to be played on the weekend of 11th February, in between league fixtures away to St Johnstone on 5th February and at home to Aberdeen on 18th February.
The exact date and time has yet to be determined with Viaplay Sports and the BBC due to decide which matches they want to broadcast from the round. Each broadcaster will show two matches but Viaplay have first dibs.
Celtic have played against St Mirren twice this season, first losing 2-0 away to the Buddies before routing them 4-0 just a few days ago thanks to goals from Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi and David Turnbull.
This will be seen as a pretty favourable draw for the Bhoys, who now have a really good chance of making it through to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
The last eight will be played on the weekend of 11th March with the semi-finals coming on the 29th and 30th of April. If Celtic make it all the way to final, they’ll take part in the showpiece occasion on 3rd June.
Other big ties in the 5th round include a Dundee United test at home to Kilmarnock and a Hearts trip to Hamilton Academical. Rangers have been drawn at home to Partick Thistle.
Celtic will likely confirm ticketing details in the next couple of days, given the match isn’t too far away.
