Celtic pair Jonathan Afolabi and Luca Connell still seem to be injured – if an update from the Ireland under-21 camp is anything to go by.
The duo have been left out by youth boss Stephen Kenny for the upcoming double-header against Armenia and Sweden. Fellow Celtic youngster Lee O’Connor will also miss the first of those matches through suspension, but he will join up with his team mates for the Sweden clash.
Irish outlet Pundit Arena say that the pair “miss out through injury” but there is no indication of when they may feature again for their country.

December could be a big month for Afolabi and Connell
Neither Connell nor Afolabi have registered a competitive appearance for Celtic yet although the former did play in a pre-season clash against Rennes. That hasn’t stopped the Celtic support from getting a little bit excited about the new wave of talent that the club secured in the summer.
The only player of the fabled quartet to break into the first-team thus far is Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutchman has been a revelation since making his debut in the Betfred Cup quarter-final against Partick Thistle. Frimpong may only be 18 but there is already a feeling developing that he should be our first-choice right-back.

There are similar hopes for Afolabi, Connell and O’Connor but the trio will have to push themselves into Neil Lennon’s plans. December will see us play nine games so you’d hope that there would be ample opportunity for some game time amid that hectic schedule.
But for now, they all just need to get themselves back fit and healthy.
