Celtic should enquire about Buffon if Gordon leaves

Celtic should make moves to bring in Gianlugi Buffon if Craig Gordon leaves the club.

The veteran keeper has just cut ties with PSG and is now without a club.

Gordon is now playing second fiddle to Scott Bain and may be drawing his playing time to an end.

Bringing in a legend such as the former Juventus keeper will bring with it many benefits.

Of course, this will be a hard ask as there will be plenty competition and a deal is unlikely.

A new dawn beckons for Celtic in Europe, as Joe Hart shows his class once again

However, Celtic can ask the question to the Italian to see if he would be a fan of a move.

Celtic must bring in Gianluigi Buffon

He was first choice with the Parisians last season, showing he still has lots to give.

If his next avenue is into coaching, then being a part of the backroom staff at Celtic can give him a platform.

Another veteran Kolo Touré was a bit part defender until he joined Brendan Rodgers’ coaching team.

Buffon can do the same in Glasgow and work with a highly talented coach in Stevie Woods.

Woods has helped the club bring through many top goalkeepers over the past few years.

A move to Celtic will also allow Buffon to have one last crack at Europe and taking the weight of Bain’s shoulders from time to time.

Lastly, the shirt sales would rightly go through the roof and it’s not unlike the board to pass up a quick buck.

Celtic keeper situation needs addressing

Gordon isn’t without his injury worries leaving Bain all on his own at present as the senior keeper.

The experienced Dutch stopper is now out of contract.

High things are expected of youths Ross Doohan, Ryan Mullen and Conor Hazard who is a Northern Ireland international yet hasn’t played a first team match for Celtic.

If another keeper isn’t sourced, expect one of the young Bhoys to get the nod.

However, they’ll have aspirations of their own and may see their future away from Celtic.

The next 12 months will be a telling time for Neil Lennon and Woods to fix this situation.
