Add in the headache of the winter transfer window, a few big hitter could be left in the stands.

Celtic Europa League group squad deadline is soon

The Hoops’ online man in the know for Europe has given a reminder about the upcoming deadline.

Twitter guru @Moravcik25 told his followers that the date in the diary is 3rd February.

He also explained the club can make only three changes to the squad that was entered in the summer.

A little complicated side story is the list system used by UEFA to make up these European squads.

The current make up of the Celtic Europa League group.

The main squad is in ‘List A’ while the younger players are in ‘List B’.

Jeremie Frimpong cannot be added ‘List B’ as UEFA requirements say the player must be at the club for two years.

To add the likes of Ismaila Soro, Patryk Klimala and Frimpong, three players need to drop out.

It will get even more complicated, should the Hoops sign additional players before the end of this window.

Some fans will point to Kouassi Eboué and Jack Hendry also vacating their spaces.

However, they were never in the summer squad, so they didn’t have a spot so to speak to give up.
