There’s been a bit of a simmering debate when it comes to Odsonne Edouard vs Alfredo Morelos.

The Celtic striker has been injured and seen his first-team chances broken up this season. Despite that, he’s still managed an impressive nine Premiership goals this season.

Meanwhile, Morelos has managed to bag 12 in the league for Rangers this term. Whilst he’s the source of much criticism and jokes from the Hoops support, nobody can deny he’s had a good season.

Yet, is it truly as impressive as Edouard’s is? Not when you’re comparing it in terms of minutes:goals.

A Twitter account dedicated to Celtic fans called “Celtic Nation” noticed an interesting observation when you compare the two players’ form this season. You can view the tweet below.

Edouard’s form is more impressive than you think

It probably says a lot about these stats that Sam Cosgrove is top on minutes:goals with 107 per goal. Regardless, it’s still impressive reading from Edouard’s perspective, as he outscores the Rangers striker in that regard.

Of course, Edouard has had a lot more competition this season than Morelos has. Steven Gerrard has played the Colombian in nearly every match for Rangers this season. Morelos has featured on 33 occasions this season. Edouard has made 31, with a handful coming from the bench.

In all competitions, Morelos has scored 20 this season, with Edouard on 14.

Of course, Edouard has still succeeded where Morelos is desperate to. The Celtic striker has bagged goals on Old Firm day for the Hoops. He has three to his name including a spectacular winner at Ibrox with 10-men.

Morelos, on the other hand, has a host of embarrassing misses to his name in the fixture. He’s improved a lot this season, but has still to net against Celtic on the big occasion.

These are two hungry, young strikers who continue to perform well for their clubs, and it could lead to an intriguing race for the golden boot.

Edouard, of course, has some catching up to do in terms of goals, but many will still claim he’s outscoring Morelos due to the stats highlighted.

A goal on Saturday, however, and there’ll be no doubt as to who’s flying highest between the pair.
