So we’ve all heard about it now – today’s big announcement from Celtic regarding….who knows?
A rumour was started yesterday through the Celtic support that a huge announcement was being prepped for today. A mixture of different opinions were soon doing the rounds.
Was it the return of Victor Wanyama? Perhaps the world-class Yaya Toure was coming to Parkhead? The truth is, nobody even knows if there even is going to be an announcement this evening.
But it hasn’t stopped Twitter from going into a bit of a frenzy over it. Here, we take a look at some of the funniest reaction to the potential news of the big reveal:

Rumours, rumours, rumours
This isn’t exactly a first for Celtic twitter. Someone “in the know” trying to fool supporters by pretending something big is going down.
Maybe there is, but it’s odd that there hasn’t been anything concrete about this.
The wishful thinkers believe it’s either Toure or Wanyama being revealed. Wanyama of course once stated that he would be open to returning to Parkhead at some stage in his career. It’s difficult to see how Celtic could do a deal for his signature, however.
It’s most likely going to be the case that fans are disappointed. The Hoops could easily just be finalising deals for the likes of Andrew Gutman or Manny Perez, and it’s been blown out of proportion.
Interestingly, however, Celtic still have two huge gaps in their squad needing filled. A potential replacement for Dedryck Boyata combined with a new right-back are the two areas needing targeted. It’s therefore surprising that the rumours about the announcement haven’t involved anything relating to those positions.
Any deal for the likes of Wanyama or Toure would be cataclysmic regardless.
For now we’ll have to wait on whether anything comes of this. As per usual, however, Celtic twitter most certainly hasn’t disappointed.
