Celtic defender Jack Hendry earned his first Scotland cap in over two years last night.
The centre-back, who’s currently on loan with Belgian top-flight side KV Oostende, played the entirety of Scotland’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Austria.
Hendry played on the right of a back three. Alongside Grant Hanley and Kieran Tierney, the 25-year-old put in a pretty positive display.
Hendry’s Hampden start had been a real surprise, given he didn’t even make the previous international squad, but he coped well on his return.
The 25-year-old had previously been written off by the Hoops faithful but, last night, many were left pondering whether he could still have a future at the club.

Scotland display has to be the start for Jack Hendry
Now, I’m not going to rewrite history. Nor am I going to kid you on.
All of those above tweets were taken after the match at Hampden. Some of the ones flying around in the early period of the match – as Scotland were battered by the Austrians – were less positive.
Hendry was pretty solid as far as this writer is concerned. But he’ll have to see a lot more of the same if he’s to be convinced that some sort of Celtic revival could be afoot.

Hendry has another year to run on his current Celtic deal [Tranfermarkt].
So, the club will have to make a pretty quick decision on him this summer.
Maybe they’ve already arrived at that decision.
Recently, over in the 67 Hail Hail YouTube channel, we got a Belgian perspective on how Hendry has played this year. Check it out HERE…
