Wow, doesn’t time fly. It’s four years to the day since Celtic demolished Rangers in Brendan Rodgers’ first derby clash.
Moussa Dembele arrived on the scene, Scott Brown bodied Joey Barton and Kolo Toure celebrated by doing cartwheels.

The 2016/2017 season was filled with amazing matches and moments.
From our 100th trophy at Hampden against Aberdeen, to the Scottish Cup final a few months later. From the nerve-shredding draw with Manchester City to the 5-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox.
Despite all that, this 5-1 home success takes a lot of beating. And there are a few reasons for that.

It was the moment Celtic truly arrived under Brendan Rodgers. We’d had to put up with bluster from across the city for months following their Scottish Cup penalties win over us at Hampden.
We’d heard how they were ‘Going for 55’ and how Joey Barton was here to sort Scott Brown. We’re still waiting on both counts.
Huge derby wins like the one on September 10th weren’t common. They would soon become a familiar sight under Brendan Rodgers, but at the start of the season a 5-1 win was about as good as things could get.
The sun was shining. Dembele arrived. Rangers crumbled.
