Mohamed Elyounoussi has credited eager supporters as one of the reasons he decided to stay in Glasgow with Celtic for another season, speaking to the official club website this evening.
The club have announced that they’ve secured another loan deal for the Norwegian international.
He’ll be a big part of Neil Lennon’s squad as we push for a tenth successive title with his intelligent creative play on the left flank adding a potent weapon to Celtic’s attack.
Fans have taken to the player despite some injury problems last term and he’s revealed being bombarded by positive messages from supporters was hard to say no to.
Speaking to CelticFC.net, Elyounoussi said: “It’s a proud moment for myself and my family. We’re very happy in Glasgow. I enjoyed my first year here. I enjoy working with the coaching staff and the players, everyone at the club, so it was an easy choice really.
“Since the league stopped, I got a lot of positive messages from fans. They told me what they thought about me, and for me to take another year, and I have to say, that made the choice even easier.
“It’s hard to say no when you get so many messages and feedback – love from the fans, and obviously I will try to give something back. The fans, of course, are one of the reasons why I’m staying here another year.”
The 25-year-old will now be looking to build on his seven-goal tally from last term and make the left flank position his own.
With forwards such as Odsonne Edouard spearheading the attack, we have excellent talents able to capitalise on the creativity of the loan man.
If he can score goals and provide assists, no doubt the adulation he’s experienced already from supporters will grow and grow.
The ambition next season is ten-in-a-row and if Elyounoussi helps deliver that, he’ll be forever remembered at Celtic Park.
