Some Celtic fans on social media are clamouring for Marco Rose to be Brendan Rodgers’ replacement.

The Red Bull Salzburg boss isn’t unfamiliar to the Hoops having done the double on us in the Europa League.

The German was taken in by the Parkhead atmosphere and left covered in merchandise.

Peter Lawwell and co should be trying everything in their arsenal to get him in.

Similarities to departing Brendan Rodgers

The Salzburg gaffer is a young aspiring manager, like Rodgers was when he came to Parkhead.

He is 42-year-old and has the tactics and player know how required to be a top European manager.

However, his downside is his predictably low knowledge on Scottish football but he’ll know all about Celtic.

The former opponent will have done his homework and far and wide defeated the Hoops last year.

However, interim boss Neil Lennon will try and have something to say about another manager taking his potential job.

German can work under Celtic stipulations

Playing in a similar sized league to Scotland shows that Rose knows what he’ll be working with.

He isn’t working under a world class budget with Salzburg and one will suspect the Hoops having more money in the bank, posting £38 million a couple of weeks ago.

Rose also has a record of developing players who are playing in bigger teams in tougher leagues.

He is a former manager for Salzburg’s youth from under-16, a similar path Rodgers had with Chelsea.

He has a strong win percentage which is the standard of a Celtic manager who will need to continue the club’s dominance in Scotland.

If Rose is the choice, it will be the progressive choice by the board and will have the full backing of the support.
