Former Celtic striker Charlie Nicholas has never been overly popular with the support.
Whether it’s been criticising the club for laps of honour or their transfer activity, he always seems to have a putdown.
But after the latest batch of Scottish Premiership results, it’s easy to see where we can now have a laugh back.
After Rangers clinched the signings of Jermaine Defoe and Steven Davis, Nicholas got a tad excited. He claimed in his Daily Star column that Rangers had done better business than Celtic.

His exact words were the following:
“Rangers are now title favourites after the first week of the transfer window.
“In August, I wasn’t worried. But I was aware of a new Rangers threat. With the loan signings of Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, that threat is now very real.
“Celtic have countered by taking in Oli Burke and Timothy Weah until the summer. But Rangers have done the better deals.”
Oh dear Charlie
No doubt Nicholas as a good Celtic man will be absolutely delighted that his prediction is wrong. After all, he only craves success for the Hoops, and would rather they dominated Rangers in every way, right?
Don’t get us wrong – we’ve had plenty of shocker predictions in the past. Usually, however, that involved something on team selection. For a Celtic man to say Rangers had the advantage whilst being points behind Celtic and not having yet seen their new signings play was a tad odd.
Subsequently, Defoe and Davis only have three goals between them. Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah, meanwhile, have six. Not bad considering they’re not as good apparently.

We get it, you put your neck on the line with predictions and are there to be shot at. Chris Sutton said something similar towards the end of January too.
But with Nicholas, you never get the feeling he’s annoyed or upset about those sorts of predictions. Almost as if he would rather it came true just so he could say he was right.
Maybe we’re just being cynical right enough. I’m sure Nicholas is still bouncing up and down in elation after Scott Brown’s winner yesterday.
Or maybe that’s as right as Nicholas’ prediction.
