Celtic fans have the opportunity to vote goalkeeper Fraser Forster into the SPFL’s Scottish Premiership Team of the Season, via the league body’s official website.
Supporters have until midnight tomorrow to register their vote on the poll, which is currently being fiercely contested between Forster and Rangers veteran Allan McGregor.
At the time of publishing Forster is level with the Ibrox shot-stopper on 44% apiece, which I’m sure you’d agree doesn’t sit quite right considering the season that the Southampton loanee has had.
No doubt McGregor has performed well for Rangers, particularly in Europe, but Forster has been a sensation between the sticks for the Hoops and should be the outright winner.
Statistically, there is not much to separate them in the Scottish Premiership, with both players helping their sides to 14 clean sheets. McGregor has conceded one more goal than the Celtic man, having played a game extra.
However, Forster has provided the Hoops backline with confidence and leadership, propelling Neil Lennon’s team towards an incredible ninth successive league title.
McGregor, on the other hand, has suffered another trophyless campaign.
That marks the Englishman out as much as anything and hopefully more Celtic fans find their way to the league vote and push Forster towards victory!
Signing him back up to Neil Lennon’s squad for next season has to be a big transfer priority for the club this summer, even if it’s an extension of his current loan.
What a boost that would be to our bid for an unprecedented tenth title in a row.
