The Celtic Fans Collective have released a statement and called on chairman Brian Wilson to put his money where his mouth his.

Wilson is the Parkhead interim chairman after Peter Lawwell resigned from Celtic to end an almost 30-year connection to the club.

With the relationship with Celtic supporters and the board at an all-time low, Wilson called on the fans to bring ‘unity’ to the club in his statement when he took the temporary chairman position.

And that call for unity has been met with a statement from the Celtic Fans Collective, who have challenged Wilson to put his money where his mouth is.

The first thing I would do if I was on the Celtic board is – – – –

Celtic Fans Collective want Brian Wilson to ‘achieve unity’

As Wilson and the Celtic board feel the pressure from the Collective, the fan group have issued a three-point plan that would help bring peace to the club.

In a big statement on X, the Collective said, “We are calling on Brian Wilson and representatives of Celtic Football Club to meet with the Celtic Fans Collective in the spirit of reconciliation and a genuine desire to achieve unity, on the same themes presented in the initial open letter:

The statement was three pages long and we would urge fans to read it (at the bottom of this article) and it was a measured and mature request considering the communication supporters have had to endure from the board.

But that is not all, there was a big boycott of Celtic’s fixture against Dundee United being urged to get organised this week, and it was close to happening.

142 Celtic Supporter Buses wanted to boycott Dundee United game

If the game against Dundee United was boycotted, then that would have been a huge slap in the face for the Celtic board.

But it has been averted as the statement ended, “We are keen to get behind the manager and players given the importance of the months to come.

“However, it is worth noting that 142 active supporter buses contacted us over the weekend urging the Steering Group to call for a boycott of an upcoming home match. Fan anger has reached a breaking point and the underlying causes of this must be addressed.

“We wish to move towards a period of reconciliation and systemic change, and we call on Brian Wilson to demonstrate that he is serious about building the fan unity he claims to seek.”

With the boycott averted for now, the ball is firmly in Wilson’s court after the olive branch that was held out by the Collective.

Whether or not it will be accepted, remains to be seen but the Collective are right to try and end this conflict yet still hold the Parkhead executives to account.
