The Celtic Fans Collective have issued an update on their plans for the final day.

In a season of disharmony at the club, the Collective have been at the centre of much of the protests which have made unhappy fans’ voices heard.

Despite this, last week, the group announced plans to ‘scale back’ protests until the final day, with a crucial run-in ahead for Martin O’Neill and his players.

Instead, they have told fans to hold back on renewing their season ticket until the final day of the season, plans about which they have now given an update.

Celtic Fans Collective give message on season ticket renewals

The blog post on the Celtic Fans Collective Website said: “Michael Nicholson and the remaining Board members are long past their sell by date in more ways than one.

“Their shambolic running of the club over many seasons has resulted in a failure for us to compete at any serious level on the European football stage.

“Nicholson’s utter lack of vision and leadership and failure to develop has led to the shambolic season we have all endured.

“While this team stumbles from one week to the next, Season Ticket renewal notices will soon be arriving in your inbox and this offers us all the opportunity to show the Board, allegedly led by the perennially-silent Michael Nicholson, that we are not going to accept their pathetic performance any longer.”

They went on to stress: “If you are one of the few people still on the interest-free scheme from Celtic then please don’t come off that because that will have an impact on you in the future.

“Further, if delaying your renewal to the final day causes you any financial problems at all, then please don’t do it.

“We are not asking people to make any sacrifices for this but for most of us this is completely easy and cost-free to do.

“Just don’t renew until the last day or as close as you can without causing yourself any problems.

“Please spread the word and please DELAY ‘til THE FINAL DAY, and let’s get this Board told that we have had enough and we want change.”

Celtic’s previous performances against their post-split opponents

Celtic’s five post-split fixtures will, of course, be repeats of clashes that have already taken place this season.

In fact, the Falkirk game – the first after the split – will be the Bairns’ third Parkhead visit this season. Both Brendan Rodgers and O’Neill have prevailed in the two preceding Glasgow encounters.

Both Hearts and Rangers have already won at Celtic Park – but of course, both of those games fell during Wilfried Nancy’s tenure.

The Frenchman also took charge of Celtic’s only visit to Fir Park this season, which he also lost. Under O’Neill, Celtic won their trip to Easter Road in November.
