Celtic fans divided in reaction to Rangers loss as Hoops take stock after ‘bad day out’

Celtic were poor in the second Glasgow derby of the Premiership season.

As excellent as the Hoops were in the reverse back in September they were as bad in this one at Ibrox as Gers ran out rather comfortable 3-0 victors.

Reo Hatate and Liam Scales were among those players in green and white who underperformed and Celtic’s player ratings vs Rangers left a lot to be desired.

And despite Brendan Rodgers admitting the hosts deserved the win, it was a performance worth questioning for Celts’ supporters – if only to learn where on earth it came from.

Ianis Hagi opened the scoring as Celtic struggled to get motoring and then it was 2-0 after the break through Robin Propper.

When Danilo hit the back of the net the match was already away from Rodgers‘ side and punters were left reeling on social media in response to the final whistle tweet.

They were divided in their thoughts, though.

Some demanded the players – and fellow supporters – brush themselves down and get back on the horse following the one-off showing.

“Calm down, lads, bound to happen. Just in time to justify strengthening. That his plan allllllll along. Clever,” one posted.

Another added: “One of those games. One team fighting for pride and the other team had a bad day out. Changes nothing. Roll on the next game HH”.

One wrote: “Take it on the chin and march for 120. Cmon the Bhoys.”

A fourth commented: “People attacking BR 2 defeats in 21 v them. We didn’t click today, they did it’s minus 11 in Govan look at the bigger picture,” accompanied by a four-leaf clover emoji.

Others were not so diplomatic with some taking a pop at an “embarrassing” performance.

Some livid supporters questioned the Celtic squad after defeat

One snapped: “Those Bhoys embarrassed themselves today,” as another added: “Awful performance.”

One said: “Gutless, heartless and weak performance, embarrassing.”

Another took to social to chime in: “No manager or player should be secure after a performance like that. No amount of success let’s anyone away with that.”

Celtic hold an 11 point lead over their rivals with another game to come between the two at Parkhead.
