As Celtic fans continue to await new boss Ange Postecoglou’s conclusion of his self-isolation period, all eyes are on the club’s transfer work.
We all knew that there would need to be patience when it came to our summer rebuild. Whether it be player arrivals or departures, nothing was ever going to be done immediately after last season was concluded.
It made total sense that the manager was installed before major decisions on personnel were made. However, as soon as Postecoglou was announced on Thursday, he produced a reassuring message to supporters.
Speaking to Celtic’s official media channels, Postecoglou relayed the following message to fans:
“I have already had great discussions with Peter, Dom and the Board about their ideas and strategy for the future of the club. I know the Club’s new modern vision aligns very much with mine and we now look to go and deliver on this. In everything we do we aim to give our fans a successful team of real quality, which they are excited about and can be proud of.
“We have already begun work on our plans for adding to the squad – we aim to bring players of quality to Celtic to enhance the existing core of great talent. ”
Ange Postecoglou reportedly working hard to bolster Celtic transfer work
Before his arrival, it was also reported by the Scottish Sun what Postecoglou was planning to do during his isolation period. It was stated that the Greek-Australian was going to use the time to assess potential signing candidates.
Granted, we don’t expect Celtic to bring four or five players to the club next week. Nobody is expecting such a radical overhaul to be complete over a short period of time. I’ve been very open in admitting that it could take more than one transfer window to fix this mess.
However, Celtic fans are entitled to expect some major progress this week. Entitled to believe that targets will have been identified and moves made by the football club. With the transfer window already open, nothing is holding Celtic back from pressing forward [Sky Sports].

Even if we have to sell before we buy some of our more expensive targets, progress should also be made on that front. We’re made to believe that Celtic’s transfer planning has been ongoing for some time. Postecoglou said as much. As well as that, he’s apparently spending his 10 days in quarantine to scout further. There’s no reason for us to stall on transfer work when he arrives at Lennoxtown.
The new boss was due to arrive in Scotland over the weekend. Therefore, he should be able to meet up with the squad early next week. More importantly, we should finally be able to press ahead with the work that needs done in the current window.
Continuing to wait further into the summer isn’t going to do us any favours. Considering much of our prep has already seemingly been finalised, it’s time to start making our moves for the players Ange wants.
Failure to do so? The less chance we have of strengthening all of our priority positions.
In other news, an EPL side will reportedly rival Celtic for a 91-cap international captain.
