Celtic fans flock to Chris Jullien's unifying social media message ahead of massive Sunday match

Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has taken to social media this weekend to share his joy at Thursday’s win over Lille.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “We (All the Celtic Fam) needed this one.”

Accompanying that short and sweet message were four pictures from the overdue UEFA Europa League win.

It’s fair to say that the relationship between the players and supporters has been tested in recent weeks and months.

From demonstrations outside Celtic Park, to incidents involving the team bus, to public declarations from stars that they don’t deserve the criticism, everything has been strained.

However, Thursday’s performance was something build on and, most encouragingly, the effort levels and determination to win were fantastic and far more like the Celtic we know and love.

There’s been a misconception, for me, about what fans have been looking for this season. Yes, trophies are important, history is important, wins are important but, it’s the performances that have been most frustrating.

Some of the players have looked like they just don’t care. Whether that feeling is accurate or not, that’s what they’ve looked like.

So to see the players play for the shirt midweek was a thrill, and Jullien’s unifying message on Twitter has gone down a storm with supporters, who are only too happy to show adoration when it is warranted.

A truce is in place.

Time will tell whether Celtic now follow this up with a sustained run of form. That’s what this season needs most of all, but right now we can live in hope and back the team to get the job done tomorrow at Celtic Park.
