The Celtic supporters have been queuing up to hail returning star Tom Rogic after he made his first appearance of the season yesterday.
Rogic’s summer has been filled with events that nearly led to a Parkhead departure. Indeed, the Aussie looked close to a move to Qatar last month in a deal that could’ve seen him leave the club for £3.5million. However, personal terms fell through and he remained a Celtic player (The Herald).

Since then, he’s only managed to make a flurry of matchday squads but had yet to make an outing before yesterday’s 2-0 win at St Johnstone. Coming on at 0-0, Rogic helped up the tempo as he watched team-mates Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala secure a massive three points for the club.
And as we await to see who comes in the door on deadline day, it appears Rogic is one the fans don’t want going anywhere:

Rogic always has a place in this squad
It’s clear the big man’s best days at Parkhead are behind him, but to say Rogic can’t still have an impact here is a crazy suggestion.
His substitute appearance yesterday was his first appearance for the club since March, and even though he clearly wasn’t up to speed just yet, he still had the ability to make a small impact.
Having Rogic there to come off the bench and inject some much-needed energy and flair into tricky matches is still a godsend. If he was allowed to depart, who else could we rely on to turn it on from a central position if Ryan Christie is struggling?

With deadline day likely set to see plenty of activity at Celtic Park, Rogic departing now shouldn’t be one of them. One again, he’s reinforced what he’s all about and what he could bring to the 10-in-a-row surge.
It’s also worth remembering that Rogic has been at the club ever since we were going for two-in-a-row. There’s an emotional attatchment to the 10, and it would feel wrong if Rogic wasn’t around for it.
So we’ll see what happens today and whether he attracts any last-minute suitors. However, after a decent cameo yesterday, you can’t underestimate what he can bring to this Celtic side.
In other news, a reported Celtic target could be set to leave his club on loan today.
