Celtic have been drawn against St Johnstone in the Premier Sports Cup.

The Bhoys overcame Raith Rovers in tonight’s quarter final, with goals from Jota, Abada and Turnbull.

There was also encouragement in the performances of James McCarthy, Adam Montgomery and 60th minute sub Liam Scales, as the last Championship team in the competition were swept aside.

Certainly, it’s a tricky one for the Bhoys. St Johnstone have established something of a second home in the national stadium, having won both the Scottish and League Cups last season.

It’s a first trip to Hampden for Ange Postecoglou, who will be desperate to win some silverware early on for the Bhoys. In a press conference [Celtic FC], he explained that the pressures on his Celtic side in the cups would be there, regardless of the season prior.

That’s true enough. But in St Johnstone, Celtic face a considerable foe. The current holders of the Premier Sports Cup, Davidson’s side represent a stern obstacle to Postecoglou’s silverware hopes.

However, fans seemed in a buoyant mood when the draw was made.
