Celtic fans will need to accept the fact the much anticipated right back signing this January may be a loan move.

With many desperate to see Mikael Lustig replaced, there have been prolonged calls for Celtic to sign a right back.

They have been linked with many, and the latest is Jeremy Toljan from Borussia Dortmund.

According to the Daily Record, the defender has been told he’s free to leave in search of first team football, which has alerted Celtic.

However, despite this seemingly positive news, some Celtic fans aren’t happy.

They are unhappy at Celtic’s continuous dabbling in the loan market, rather than signing players on permanent deals.

This would be Celtic’s third loan deal of the window if it is concluded. Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah have joined the club on a temporary basis.

As things stand, Vakoun Issouf Bayo is the only permanent deal done this year, with the Ivorian signing for £2m.

However, one Celtic fan did see a positive to the signing, with a caveat.

If Toljan’s proposed deal does include an option to buy, then it many be of huge benefit to Celtic.

Beggars can’t be choosers

Some fans will need to face up to the fact that the loan market may suit Celtic better at this time.

Celtic are in a real battle to win the league this year, as well as a treble treble.

The right back position is one that has caused Celtic problems recently.

The fans may be about to get their wish of a new right back, albeit temporarily.
