It is fair to say that former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers isn’t the most popular man with the Hoops support. The reason for that – his leaving of the club to join Leicester City last season in the middle of the title race.

The nature of the departure understandably still rankles with the Hoops support. It left the club in a very difficult situation.

Added to that, Rodgers’ Leicester reportedly made a recent enquiry to sign Callum McGregor. Thankfully that was turned down by Celtic.

Now Hoops fans could have another reason to be disgruntled with the former manager.

The BBC are reporting that Celtic’s bitter rivals Rangers are set to sign Andy King on loan from Rodgers’ Leicester side.

Move won’t go down well with the fans

It is unlikely to go down well with the Hoops support that a former boss is selling a player to the Hoops’ title rivals. Still, these things happen in football.

The King move will not upset fans as much as the leaving of the club did. Signing Callum McGregor would also cause much more upset if that had happened.

It will be intriguing to find out when Rodgers will be welcomed back to Celtic Park by the Hoops support. He will go down as one of the best managers in the club’s history. Still, it might take a while for fans to forgive the nature of his exit.
