Celtic fans have been debating on TalkingPoints which player they think will be the most important to the side’s chances of winning the league.

Following on from the 1-0 win against St Mirren, all attention turns to the post-split fixtures in which the Hoops will play the other five teams that finished in the top half of the Scottish Premiership table.

The Bhoys hold the cards in the title race and with the experience of Martin O’Neill in these situations, they still have every chance. But which player can get Celtic over the line? 67 Hail Hail’s readers gave their opinion on TalkingPoints.

After putting the question to you, the fans, the majority of supporters said that Callum McGregor would be the most important player in the run-in.

McGregor not only wears the armband but provides something different in Celtic’s one-dimensional midfield.

He knows better than anyone how to handle this situation and our TalkingPoints users have named him as the man to lead the side forward.

One person wrote: “McGregor…. lynchpin of the team and if he excels they do.”

A second said: “Callum McGregor,” to which someone responded: “Yes, definitely, he’s the guy who dictates play for Celtic and he will deliver in the coming fixtures.”

He wasn’t the only person mentioned; Liam Scales was suggested too.

“I’d say Scales. The moment he is even slightly off his game, the defence falls to pieces. He has to be 100% focused all of the time,” said this fan.

Kieran Tierney, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate were also mentioned but, in reality, everyone will need to be on board.
