Celtic have today confirmed that one player has come back with a positive test after the Dubai trip.
The Hoops went on a very controversial warm-weather training camp after last week’s loss to Rangers. The decision drew criticism from both supporters and even the Scottish Government.
It was widely felt that the worst thing that could’ve happened after the stinging criticism was a positive test occurring in the camp. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. And it’s infuriated the Celtic fans.
Here’s a look at the tweet from the club earlier this afternoon:
It’s a massive concern for the club and supporters. Just because other members of the squad and management team haven’t tested positive doesn’t mean they won’t. That’s the nature of this virus.
There is no confirmation on who the player is as of yet. However, if it isn’t revealed before tomorrow night’s game against Hibernian, the teamsheet could provide an answer. The player will now have to self-isolate for 10 days. No close contacts as of yet have been reported.
Celtic positive test after Dubai is a bad look
This is exactly what we’ve all been talking about. Exactly what we’ve been concerned with as a fan-base over the last week. It’s the main reason as to why the country is in lockdown and cannot travel.
Celtic are now guilty of bringing Covid back to Scotland from Dubai. There’s no way to dress that up. The club will now just be keeping their fingers crossed that this doesn’t lead to an outbreak. The next week or two will be essential in that sense.

This also won’t be going down well with Hibs either. They’re due to visit Celtic Park tomorrow night. You could hardly blame them for being furious about the risk their players could now be placed under.
The Hoops spent the entire Dubai camp trying to justify it. They wheeled out players and the manager for interviews on why it’s essential we took the trip. Even if it is important to re-energise, this could’ve been done in Scotland. Especially when nobody else in the Premiership went away on international camps either.
So now we wait as a fanbase in the hope no further damage occurs. But it’s important to remember the human aspect of this. We at 67HailHail wish the player in question a speedy recovery.
And it’s fair to say that today’s news has only infuriated many in our support. Here’s a look at what some are saying:

In other news, this Brendan Rodgers signing is absolutely bossing it away from Celtic.
