The story earlier this week from the Scottish Sun about Scott Sinclair’s contract situation hasn’t enthused supporters.
The report stated that the Englishman was waiting to hear back from Peter Lawwell about his future. Celtic apparently have the power to trigger another year in Sinclair’s deal. If they don’t, he could leave for nothing at the end of the season.
So far this season, Sinclair has netted 17 times this season for the Hoops. Added to that, he’s contributed nine assists in a productive campaign for him in terms of stats.
Sinclair has had his rough patches at Parkhead too, however. Earlier this season, he went on a run of just two goals in 17 outings. But it seems that since the winter break his form has picked up.
Fans have since been reacting on Twitter to the news that Sinclair may not be given a new deal. It’s fair to say that not everyone was delighted with the idea either.

Fans seem to be flocking one way on social media
There appears to be a large volume of Celtic fans desperate for Sinclair to get that new deal or year triggered.
The Englishman has been one of the main faces of this Celtic team for the last three years. Signed by Brendan Rodgers a day before his debut, Sinclair has been a huge part of the Rodgers revolution that swept through Parkhead.
His goal return for a winger is terrific, and his assists are racking up nicely too. Therefore, on pure numbers alone, it would be safe to say that Sinclair deserves a new contract.
Where you can accuse him of being poor, however, is in the big games. The Englishman has been hiding on several occasions this year when the going gets tough for Celtic. At Easter Road (x2), Tynecastle (x2), and Ibrox – Sinclair was anonymous.
He still isn’t showing enough confidence on the ball, and needs to be more direct. His performance against Hibernian’s David Gray last Saturday was woeful, as he failed to get past the Hibs captain once.
If Sinclair wants to convince everyone he deserves a new contract, he needs to start impressing over 90 minutes. He hasn’t done that in a good while.
