The performance of Oliver Burke vs St Mirren was a breakthrough moment for the young star.
The on-loan West Bromwich Albion man put in a terrific shift and bagged his first two Celtic goals. Ironically, it’s come after many of us supporters spoke about his inability to play as the lone striker.

But whilst he remains more comfortable across the attacking midfield, he was sensational tonight. His movement and power saw Celtic click in the final third once again.
And supporters were quick to heap praise on the new-man. Here’s some of the best Twitter reaction to the Scottish international’s performance:

From a hard-working talent to an extremely exciting one
It’s easy to forget the fact that Timothy Weah actually added his second Celtic goal of his career too this evening. Tonight, however, truly belonged to Burke, who put in the performance he needed to catch supporters’ eyes.
Fans remain right to question whether the big man is a striker. Burke is still a naturally right-sided midfielder. His best position still isn’t up front on his own, and tonight’s brace doesn’t change that.
What it does do, however, is help convince supporters that he can do a job there against certain Premiership teams. Tonight, he looked every bit a solid centre-forward, and there’s no denying that Brendan Rodgers has made many of us look a tad silly tonight.

And momentum now begins to build nicely around Parkhead once again. With Rangers losing 2-1 at Rugby Park to Kilmarnock, Celtic’s 4-0 win against St Mirren ended what was a highly-successful night for the Hoops.
Both Weah and Burke will have yet another big chance to continue their goal run this weekend. Hamilton Accies visit Celtic Park, and once again you would expect Celtic to create a truckload of chances against the Accies.
Tonight has gone a long way for Burke in particular when it comes to convincing supporters of his quality. It’s looking increasingly likely that he could do us a massive turn between now and the end of the season.
