Some Celtic supporters have been reacting to the very real possibility of Mikael Lustig leaving the club. The 32-year-old is expected to end a seven-and-a-half year stay in Glasgow this summer after he spoke about a tough recent period.
Lustig told Sportbladet: “The last few weeks have been tough. Not on the field, but off the pitch.
“I am proud of how I have handled the situation and those closest to me, the players and the leaders at Celtic know what has happened.”
Lustig’s cryptic message was followed by a social media post from his wife Josefin. She posted a photo of herself and the Swedish international on Instagram alongside the caption: “Wherever you go I will follow”.
The 16 time trophy winner’s days at the club do seem to be numbered, and that’s brought out a mixed reaction from sections of the support.
What are the fans saying?
Some think it was the right time for the full-back to depart.
Definitely the right time for Lustig to go. If he stayed any longer, we'd essentially still be flogging a dead horse and everyone would be complaining about how finished he is.
Farewell, Mika. You'll be leaving Celtic with your head held high and as a treble treble winner 🍀🇸🇪 pic.twitter.com/06vTMVtXxs

Celtic twitter spent most of the season telling us Lustig was past it and Celtic should let him go….now Celtic are seemingly due to let him go Celtic twitter is saying he should be kept on
Love him for his time at the club, but it's time to move on, much like Izzy should have!

The Swede is likely to be a big loss in the dressing room.
If Lustig leaves, as seems certain, he may not be the greatest right back but he got the club and was the leader among the foreign players and will be missed within the dressing room.

Lustig’s departure hasn’t been confirmed but it could be in the next few days. If he does move on then he’ll leave after a period of unprecedented success for the club. He’s been a big part of Celtic for the past seven seasons, and deserves all the plaudits he gets.
