Celtic fans have been reacting to Scott Allan’s performance in the 6-0 mauling of Dundee reserves yesterday.
The former Dundee midfielder was playing against his old club’s fringe players. And, in a starring display, Allan bagged an assist and put several terrific deliveries into the box.
It follows on from similarly impressive displays recently for the reserves. He’s performed well in recent matches against Kilmarnock, Falkirk, and Partick Thistle respectively. He’s been a key factor in shooting the Hoops to the top of the Reserve League.

Ironically, it doesn’t even matter either. Allan has already signed a pre-contract with Hibernian, and will head there at the end of the season.
Celtic fans, however, have still been reacting to his displays on social media. Here’s a look at what some of the Hoops faithful had to say:

Ironic but not surprising
There’s definitely something ironic about this, but not unexpected. Allan, on his day, is a decent footballer, and well beyond the quality of the SPFL Reserve League.
What it can’t do, however, is get people thinking that he should be back in the team. At the end of the day, the former and future Hibernian midfielder needs games week-in, week-out. Even if you think Celtic could offer him that, then the truth is we shouldn’t.
Allan, over the course of three-and-a-half years at the club, has made just three starts for Celtic. Overall, he’s appeared on 17 occasions. He’s been tried in the past and hasn’t been good enough, so his inevitable move will suit both parties.

What he does provide between now and the end of the season is help for the youngsters. He has plenty of experience in the game does Allan, and he can prove beneficial for the likes of Armstrong Oko-flex and Jack Aitchison to name a couple.
He seems to be racking up some assists at reserve level, and that shows he’s providing for the youngsters.
In the main, Allan does have a part to play at Celtic between now and the end of the season. But the truth is that his role certainly shouldn’t be anywhere near first-team level.
