Celtic fans are delighted to see James Forrest stay

With more records there to be broken, the 34-year-old has plenty left to achieve before calling time on his career.

Martin O’Neill is even considering starting Forrest after some impressive cameos off the bench. His most recent one came in the Scottish Cup semi-final win against St Mirren, where he teed up the cross for Kelechi Iheanacho’s first goal, as well as taking on the role of captain when subbed on in normal time.

That hasn’t gone unnoticed amongst the fanbase, who believe he fully deserves a new contract and hope to see him play an important part in winning a league and cup double.

One TalkingPoints user said: “Fully deserved. Proved he still has a role to play and ahead of next summer’s rebuild, keeping him around to help others adapt to the culture and pressure of Celtic is crucial.”

Another wrote: “Was hoping James would be given the chance to end a fabulous career as a one club Celt. And I still believe he’ll produce a magic moment to secure the double.”

A third added: “He’s still a really useful player to have around! He showed that in the semi-final.”

This fan commented: “Congratulations Jamesey, very well deserved.”

One other Celtic fan suggested the deal “should be for life!”
