Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths’ tweet today brought only one question from supporters – when are you back?
The Hoops put in a stunning performance at Pittodrie earlier on in a fine 4-0 success. The result was ultimately enough to keep Celtic at the top of the table. That was despite the fact that Rangers had the well-acknowledged easier task against Motherwell at Ibrox earlier on.

But when Celtic perform like this they’re too good for anyone in Scotland. Aberdeen can actually be thankful they got away with only conceding four, as the Hoops overwhelmed them in a display of first-half dominance.
Griffiths was one of the first to congratulate the team with a short message on social media. But Celtic fans weren’t going to let him away without asking him about his current status. Here’s a look at some of the replies from our fan-base.

Griffiths return still a mystery
Griff still hasn’t been in a Celtic squad since August’s dismantling of Hearts at Celtic Park. With a bit of luck, he’ll be back and firing at some point in the near future.
The latest update was when Neil Lennon stated that he was back in training and trying to build up his fitness levels (Daily Record). That was over three weeks ago. As things stand, his current status remains as sidelined. It’s absolutely anyone’s guess as to when that will change.

But nobody can deny that Griff will be a huge asset when he returns. Supporters aren’t craving him back amongst the squad because he’s a poor footballer. He gives us a different dimension that we don’t currently have. Remember, this is a striker who managed to bag 40 goals in the struggling second season of Ronny Deila.
Since then, he’s been battling hard to prove he’s a viable choice for the likes of Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon. Lenny doesn’t need much convincing, but he does need a certain level of fitness from him before he can give Griff his chance.

The constant mystery over where Griffiths is just now is a frustration for the Hoops fans. Considering Vakoun Issouf Bayo is still struggling to make a big impression, we could do with Griff back for some proper competition.
Once again, we move on to our next game without Griffiths in the squad. How many more games can we rule out for him? Unfortunately, none of us truly know.
