Timothy Weah’s inclusion in the Next Gen top 20 players list was a timely reminder of his talents.
The PSG kid on loan at Parkhead has made just two starts since joining in January. He’s yet to feature from the start under interim manager Neil Lennon, and has just three goals to his name.

He has come on twice as a substitute under Lennon, but only in cameo roles. It’s fair to say that, so far, Weah’s loan spell hasn’t been as fruitful as we all would’ve hoped.
Celtic fans, therefore, have been roasting the club for their Twitter post congratulating Weah on his inclusion in the prestigious list. It was easy to see what the main gripe with the post was too. Have a look at some of the reaction below:

We need to start seeing more of Weah
The important thing for Weah upon arriving at Parkhead was to take his chances when he arrives. Yet, ironically, that’s exactly what he did early on. He bagged goals against Airdrieonians and St Mirren in his first two matches, before hardly being given another shot.
He reminded us all of his influence with another goal and impressive cameo at St Johnstone. His display at McDiarmid Park helped seal a crucial three points. Yet that STILL hasn’t been enough to earn more oppportunities.
Celtic only have 10 games left of their domestic campaign remaining (should they make the Scottish Cup final). Time is running out if we’re going to start seeing Weah more regularly.

The fact he can make a list like this but not feature over the likes of Scott Sinclair and Mikey Johnston is criminal. It’s also the kind of loan spell that can see bridges being burned with the likes of PSG in the future. Weah isn’t getting the game-time he was likely hoping, despite impressing supporters.
The club scored a bit of an own goal by backing up this news yesterday. It’s opened them up to this kind of criticism, and no wonder too.
Will we see Weah next Sunday? Maybe, but if so then it’s likely to be under 15 minutes. His quick start at Parkhead is fading fast.
