Celtic fans have been sending their message to Martin O’Neill about this summer’s transfer rebuild.
The 74-year-old has made the huge commitment to be the man in the dugout for a summer of significant change, with plenty of movement expected in and out.
But we’ve been here before. Many times before. Last summer’s disastrous transfer window is still in the memory, not least because it’s the reason why O’Neill was drafted in in the first place.
So how does he approach it this summer? Quickfire or patient? Militant or diplomatic? Frivolous or frugal? Fans on TalkingPoints have had their say.
👀 A reasonable figure?
Celtic fans on Martin O’Neill’s transfer plans: ‘Get rid of the deadwood’
Of course, the eyes of many fans are on the board, with one saying: “Make sure the board give you what you want. Don’t let them get away with it again.”
Another said: “Bring them in early and make sure they are fit so they can start the season on the front foot.”

One fan wants a small squad to provide an opportunity for academy players: “Get rid of the deadwood and build a small squad, use the youngsters as first reserves.”
Not everyone is in favour of a hell-for-leather approach, however. One fan said: “Don’t start off in militant mood, as there are no winners if players are only signed under duress.
“You are brilliant at persuading. I believe that is a professional way for a manager and board to behave.
“Brendan Rodgers failed miserably because of his inability to persuade Dermot Desmond of the need to buy particular players.
“He then tried to bully Dermot Desmond by using supporters to rebel against [him].”
Other fans aren’t getting their hopes up. One joked: “Martin, if you are expecting any signings, get your magic wand out — you’ll need it.”
Another even wants O’Neill to threaten his resignation already: “Martin O’Neill should threaten to walk tomorrow if there are no new faces at the club.
“Would he? I don’t think so, unfortunately.”
A final fan put it simply and beautifully in equal measure: “Don’t trust the board, they are a bunch of muppets.”
