At one stage it seemed that French midfielder Olivier Ntcham was certain to leave Celtic during the summer. The player admitted that a move to Marseille appealed to him. However, the move didn’t happen, and he has knuckled down and got on with his football.
He has played well for the Hoops so far this season, with perhaps his most memorable moment in Celtic jersey coming when he scored the last minute winner against Lazio in Rome.
Now the player seems to have committed his future to Celtic, and that should delight the Hoops support.
“I am focused”
“I am focused on Celtic 150 percent” he said, as reported by the Herald.
“There was talk about my future, but I am fully concentrated on the present. You never know what happens in football tomorrow, but I want to enjoy my time today. It’s a very exciting time at Celtic.”
Ntcham does not sound like player in a hurry to move on from Celtic. That is good news for the Hoops support. When Ntcham is at his best, he is one of the best players in the Premiership, and in Celtic’s squad overall.
He proved that in his match-winning cameo against Lazio. In the past Ntcham has proved that he is a big game player for Celtic, most recently in the win over Lazio.
No surprise if player starts upcoming cup final
Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see him start the Betfred Cup Final on Sunday. He is the kind of player who if he is on his game, can dictate the middle of the park.
It has been a good few months for Celtic. The team are currently on a 10 game winning run. Ntcham pledging his future to the club can only add to the feel good factor that is currently at Celtic Park.
At times, he can be a very special player for the Hoops. That is why fans should be pleased with his comments. The more good players that commit to Celtic the better, and that seems to be what Ntcham is doing.
