Celtic fans stunned after agreeing with Andy Walker's board comments

If anything sums up 2020 it simply has to be the fact that many Celtic fans have found themselves agreeing with Andy Walker.

The Sky Sports pundit is often a much-maligned character for his over-the-top criticism of the club over the years. Walker has earned a reputation for stepping too hard on the Bhoys in the past when things have been nowhere near as bad as he’s made out.

But that changed today.

He’s been talking about the Celtic board’s lack of strength as he reacted to the club’s official statement last night backing Neil Lennon. The club said they would review matters in the new year, but that Neil had the full support of the hierarchy.

Walker seemed bewildered with this stance from Celtic, and he wasn’t afraid to make his comments known either. Speaking to Sky Sports, the outspoken pundit went all-in on the board:

“I’m not surprised the Celtic board don’t know what they are doing. I think you have to be strong in a situation like this and I think you have to make tough decisions at times. And I think this is a time to make a really tough decision.

“And that decision is to change direction and go back to what was working before. I think there is a dereliction of duty by the Celtic board who have been taken by surprise at just how quickly everything has unravelled here and the Celtic team I have watched over the last number of months is not working.

“I’m looking at the players and they are not as good as they were last season and their performance levels are dropping.”

Listen, it’s great disagreeing with Walker as we often do. But we just can’t bring ourselves to do so here. Reading his comments, you find yourself nodding along in agreement at the comments made. It’s most definitely been an incredible year.

Walker hasn’t said anything that the general Celtic support hasn’t over the last couple of months. He’s only stating what the rest of us have, regardless of how ridiculous some of his previous views on the club have been.

We all know this won’t last and before long we’ll be back to questioning what on earth he’s on about, but that certainly wasn’t the case today.

This was proven in the supporters’ reaction to his comments on Twitter ttoo. Even they couldn’t believe that they found themselves backing the Sky man’s comments today:
