Celtic fans take broadcaster to task after bizarre Callum McGregor verdict
Celtic supporters have been sticking up for midfielder Callum McGregor today after Sky Sports underrated his performance against England at Wembley.
McGregor was one of the stand-out players for Scotland at Euro 2020, helping his country to a crucial point in Group D.
The 0-0 results puts Scotland on the brink of qualification for the knockout stages. That can be achieved with a victory against Croatia at Hampden on Tuesday night. That’s no small task of course.
Sky Sports delivered their player ratings this morning. According to them, McGregor was the poorest Scotland performer on the night. He’s the only player in Steve Clarke’s side to register a rating below seven.

Best game in a while from Celtic star Callum McGregor
That’ll be absurd to anyone who watched on – especially when players such as Kalvin Phillips and Luke Shaw received similar or better ratings from the England performance.
Don’t get me wrong – players such as Billy Gilmour fully deserve plaudits for their performance. Gilmour was arguably more involved in the match during his time on the pitch.
However, McGregor did lots of ugly work to help keep England at bay. He was also in place for the entire 90 minutes, digging deep to hold the point in the final ten minutes of the match.
It was the Celtic midfielder’s best performance for a year at least. It wasn’t necessarily eye-catching or fancy, but it also doesn’t deserve to be considered as average.
Many Hoops supporters agree, taking to social media today to stick up for their Celtic and Scotland hero…
Who was the Rangers supporter who gave McGregor a 6?

If Phillips and McGregor are being judged on a level playing field there is no way they both score 6.
Phelps was posted missing while McGregor was relentless off the ball and composed in possession. Crazy!

Callum McGregor a 6 🤣🤣🤣🤣 best player on the park never gave the ball away and lasted the full 90 working his ballocks off

Ahahahahahaha giving Mcgregor a 6 😂😂, not a single Scotland player should be below an 8
— Sam McKinlay (@blondelmo1888) June 19, 2021
According to that Callum McGregor was the weakest Scotland player 😳😂😂😂

Callum McGregor 94% pass accuracy in the game. He had the highest pass completion out of all the starting players on the pitch and he gets a 6 😂 Who is giving out these ratings? Should have got a 10 for his one wee chip pass over the Eng players head onto the toe of Sco player.

McGregor and Gilmour surely are both 9s two best players on the park.

I wonder why McGregor only got 6. He was excellent
