Celtic vs Partick Thistle is the confirmed draw for next month’s Betfred Cup quarter-finals.
The Hoops go into the match having managed to just overcome Dunfermline Athletic after extra-time. The 2-1 success over the Pars yesterday frustrated the supporters. Yet, in the end, all that really mattered was progression as they made it 28 consecutive cup tie successes.
Partick, meanwhile, secured an impressive 3-2 win over Ross County to set up the quarter-final clash. The contest will also see Gary Caldwell return to Parkhead for the first time as a manager.
But even then, supporters weren’t getting caught up in any romanticism the tie may contain. Instead, they were focusing on teasing the club after yesterday’s Betfred Cup scare against Dunfermline. Here’s a look at some of the reaction to today’s post:

Taking the humour out of things, Celtic couldn’t have asked for a better draw today. Partick is the only lower-league side still in the competition. Not seeing them off would, quite frankly, be just as big an embarrassment as yesterday nearly was.
It’s a great chance for the Hoops to incredibly go 29 cup ties without defeat. Partick haven’t won at Celtic Park since 1995 – a 3-1 league success. Celtic should be making sure that 24-year run continues next month.
Elsewhere in the Betfred Cup draw, rivals Rangers will travel to Livingston. Kilmarnock vs Hibernian and Hearts vs Aberdeen makes up the rest of the ties. It’s certainly shaping up to be a difficult competition to win yet again this year.
You could argue that Neil Lennon could certainly do with cup success during the first half of the season. It would be the perfect pick-me-up for supporters. It would also be validation for Lenny that he’s still keeping things ticking over nicely.
At the moment, however, that seems a long way away yet. The stuttering showing against Dunfermline won’t be forgotten so quickly. Doubly so considering it came just days after being knocked out of the Champions League.
Fans are clearly still livid with the club, and it all stretches back to the summer recruitment too. Hopefully, however, we can pick ourselves up from the mini-crisis we’re currently in to secure our fourth consecutive Betrfred Cup. And on our way, hopefully, an emphatic result against Partick is on the cards.
