Celtic fans think there’s a perfect job for John Kennedy elsewhere

Many Celtic fans believe that the perfect job opening has come up for John Kennedy away from Parkhead.

Indeed, the sacking of Derek McInnes as Aberdeen manager didn’t come as much of a shock. The Dons sit three points behind third place having played a game more whilst the football has been eye-bleeding at times. They’re also on a pitiful run of only one goal nine games too.

A change was needed, and the speculation is already well underway as to who the new manager could be [Daily Record].

Earlier on this morning, 67HailHail writer Euan Davidson explained why the job would be a good fit for interim Celtic boss Kennedy.

The long-term Celtic employee has only taken charge of two games in the Parkhead dugout. Ironically, his only win as a manager has come against the Dons. But there are major question marks over his ability to take on the role permanently given his lack of experience.

John Kennedy to Aberdeen would be a brilliant move from a Celtic perspective

We’re not going to disrespect the Aberdeen support by telling them who should be their next manager. But if Kennedy applied and bagged the Pittodrie role, it would be great for the Hoops in particular.

Kennedy is such a highly-valued coach. He’s had so many roles at Lennoxtown from scout to development team manager to assistant boss. Now, he’s having a taste of management between now and the end of the season. He’s ready for his first job, but we can all agree that the Parkhead gig is too big for him at this stage.

Not to undermine the Dons or underappreciate the size of the club. But Kennedy cutting his teeth up north would be a great fit. If anything, that’s a piece of praise for Aberdeen. We want Kennedy to go to a club where expectations will be high. If he is going to be a future Celtic manager one day, he has to learn to deal with pressure and an expectant fan-base. He would experience both if he succeeded McInnes.

Of course, the timeframe could be an issue. We need Kennedy to remain in place between now and the end of the season. Even if supporters would like a replacement in now, that clearly isn’t on our agenda.

Should Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack want a swift appointment in the door, that would be a no-go for John. He has a job to do looking over things here between now and the summer. Regardless of that, however, many supporters clearly see it as a good route for him:

In other news, a Celtic player has confirmed his departure from the club with a social media message.
