Yet another Celtic fixture move confirmed

An upcoming Celtic fixture away to Kilmarnock will move to Tuesday 2nd February from Wednesday 3rd, the club confirmed today.

It’s the second time in 24 hours the details of a game have been changed.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that UEFA had stepped in to request a home game against Aberdeen be moved to an earlier 6 pm kick-off on 17th February.

This time it is Sky Sports that have requested to move the match. They’re looking to capitalise on a Tuesday night television audience.

It will likely make little difference to Celtic, apart from a shorter turnaround from their weekend match on 30th January.

Neil Lennon’s Bhoys enter the 3rd Round of the Scottish Cup on that date, which follows a home game against Hamilton the prior midweek.

The draw for that historic tournament takes place tomorrow morning.

As for Kilmarnock, well, it could be a tough trip to Rugby Park.

Celtic beat the Ayrshire side 2-0 at home last month, but on their last visit to Killie’s ground, the match ended 1-1.

More Celtic fixture details

The Hoops must go on an extended winning run to have any chance of lifting the title this year.

Any more dropped points would represent another nail in the ten-in-a-row coffin.

Sky Sports perhaps anticipate a bit of drama, with plenty more Celtic action on the box over the coming dates.

Matches against Hibernian on January 11th, Livingston on January 20th and St Mirren on January 24th are all on the TV schedule.
