Infamous Celtic failure Marvin Compper is on course for some good news at last – as he hunts promotion in his native Germany.
The 34-year-old centre-back has been a prominent player for MSV Duisburg who sit top of the third tier in Germany after 15 matches. Compper’s new side have already lost four games this term but sit three points clear of second placed Ingolstadt in the 3.Liga table.

But it’s not all good news for the Brendan Rodgers signing. Compper played every minute of his new side’s first 12 matches of the season but has since dropped out of boss Torsten Lieberknecht’s plans.
Compper is used to not fitting in after Celtic spell
The internet is a little sketchy when it comes to lower league German football. However, there doesn’t seem to be too much evidence of an injury on the defender’s part. Compper has failed to play a minute of football in his side’s last five outings – and has only made the 18 man matchday squad on one occasion.

The turning point? Well, in the absence of any injury, it looks like it was the 3-1 defeat away to lowly Chemnitzer in early October. That was the last time Compper featured for his side and – coming off the back of another 3-1 loss to Meppen – it may have been the final straw.
But let’s face it – the defender has plenty experience of sitting in the stand as his teammates clinch trophies. He’ll get used to it.
