The Celtic Foundation has announced that a team of Hoops legends will be taking on Liverpool at Anfield in a special friendly fixture in March 2023.

The club’s charity foundation teamed up with the LFC Foundation to bring together a legends match, which will take place on March 25th 2023 (3 PM kick-off)

A Hoops side, comprised full of old favourites, will travel down south to Anfield in order to raise money for charity, with 100 per cent of match proceeds being committed to good causes and beneficiaries, including the Celtic Foundation.

Of course, both sides have faced off on a hand full of occasions in competitive European and friendly action in recent times.

The Bhoys’ trip to the iconic English venue will likely provide supporters with a chance to watch some of their favourite Celtic players from generations gone by.

And that could potentially include players from our last competitive visit to Anfield in 2003, reliving a legendary European night on our way to the UEFA Cup final.

Although no players have been confirmed for either side, you would imagine it will be a star-studded lineup filled with greats of both clubs.

After announcing the event online, Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive Tony Hamilton expressed his thanks to those at Liverpool as the two clubs come together to support a great cause.

He said [Celtic FC]: “It’s an honour for us to work with Matt and his team at Liverpool FC Foundation on this charity match as we celebrate a wonderful relationship between the two clubs.

“We are very grateful to be confirmed as one of the beneficiaries of the match proceeds as this will make a huge difference to our work challenging poverty and promoting inclusion.

“And we look forward to bringing together a host of Celtic favourites to take on their Liverpool counterparts on March 25 in what I’m sure will not only be a wonderful spectacle but also a hugely heart-warming occasion filled with special memories.”

Liverpool season ticket holders will have exclusive access to tickets for the match. But an area has also been set aside for Celtic supporters wishing to attend, with tickets going on sale this Thursday (15th) at 1 PM.

Tickers will be priced at £27 for adults, £7 for juniors and £17 for over-65s.

It should be a fantastic occasion next March, with plenty of fans from both sides turning out to support a special cause.

The game should also provide fans with another brilliant opporutnity to watch some of their favourite players from days goneby compete in friendly action.
