Celtic get Greg Taylor return timeline after hamstring scan

Celtic will only be missing defender Greg Taylor for a few matches after he picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Rangers at Ibrox.

Taylor has been one of Celtic’s most effective players this season and is undoubtedly one of the fan favourites in Ange Postecoglou’s regular starting eleven.

His absence is a blow but ultimately this is good news considering hamstring issues can sometimes rule players out for months, as we discovered last season.

Speaking to 67 Hail Hail in a media conference today, Postecoglou confirmed that Taylor had received a scan to determine the scale of the problem.

The Celtic boss said the injury is “not too serious” but that it’ll keep him out of action for a couple of weeks. As always, rehabilitation is variable from player to player.

It seems likely that Alexandro Bernabei will now get another opportunity to impress in the starting eleven having made the eleven of six occasions so far this season.

He may even get a run in the team over the next few weeks in what could be his first big chance to stake a claim as a regular under Postecoglou.

The manager has managed to build a deep and competitive squad meaning there hopefully won’t be too much of a dip in team performance even when big players get injuries.

The best evidence of that so far is how the group coped in the absence of captain Callum McGregor, winning consistently in the Scottish Premiership.

Fingers crossed that Celtic deal equally as well with Taylor’s injury.
