Celtic could be set to lose Emilio Izaguirre this month, and should therefore go for Barry Douglas if it happens.
The Honduran left-back has put in mixed performances this season.
Despite being Kieran Tierney’s back-up, Izaguirre has featured on many occasions this term. Overall, he’s managed nine outings for the Hoops since the start of the season. Injuries to Tierney have allowed him the chance to step up and make an impression.
Depending on who you ask, however, Izaguirre has had either a successful season or an average one. For every performance like the one against Kilmarnock, there’s been the one against Aberdeen.

It’s been a mixed bag for the veteran, who’s struggled to be effective as the number two to Tierney.
Added to that, there’s been interest in the Honduran today. Turkish Super Lig side Goztepe are monitoring the left-back, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens there.

Celtic should give Leeds a call regarding Barry Douglas
And if a deal goes all the way, Celtic should look no further than Douglas.
For anyone who follows Leeds United, it’s not exactly been a season to remember for the former Dundee United man. After signing for the club in the summer, he’s struggled for form. Inconsistency has seen Douglas openly admit that he hasn’t been good enough in the Championship.
But this could be the time for Celtic to make a move for him considering his stock has lowered. Douglas would only be required at the Hoops as cover, and would be an upgrade on the out-of-sorts Izaguirre.
Douglas also has successful experiences at the likes of Lech Poznan in Poland and Dundee United. His crossing ability is of a high standard, and he could easily be relied to do a job in Scotland.

Douglas signed for Leeds for around a reported £3million. That could prove to be a real stumbling block for the Hoops.
Celtic have been fleetingly linked with Douglas in the past. Despite that, however, Brendan Rodgers likely wouldn’t want to sign a replacement for several million. Meanwhile, any offer to Leeds would surely see them wanting to make a convincing profit.
But it may be worth asking the question if Izaguirre does make a move to Turkey.
With 21 Leeds appearances to his name this season, Leeds are worth a quick call over Douglas. Unfortunately, the Hoops could easily be priced out.
