Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon could be a surprise inclusion in Steve Clarke’s upcoming Scotland squad to face Israel, The Scottish Sun reports.
The Hoops shot-stopper hasn’t been in action for Neil Lennon’s first-team since December, one of only six appearances he’s made this season.
With his action limited due to the excellent form of Fraser Forster and return from injury of Scott Bain, Gordon’s fallen down the pecking order at Celtic Park compared to the days of his status as number one goalkeeper.
As a result, his involvement in the Scotland set-up has been greatly reduced too, last being named in an international squad way back in October 2018 (Transfermarkt).
However, The Scottish Sun now report he is one of the names in line to become third-choice in Clarke’s squad to face Israel, with Craig MacGillivray having not played a single game for Portsmouth this season.
It’s said that Clarke will hold talks with Celtic and Scotland goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods over the coming weeks before announcing his side in two weeks time.

With other players such as Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Leigh Griffiths all set to be involved, there could be a number of Celtic players in Clarke’s starting eleven for the match against Israel at Hampden.
A win will see the country progress to a final match away to Norway or Serbia for a place at this summer’s prestigious Euro 2020 tournament.
