Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster has heavily praised manager Neil Lennon, telling reporters he’s ‘brilliant’ in a press conference on Monday.

Forster has had an excellent start to his latest spell at the Hoops, after joining on a season-long loan from English Premier League side Southampton.

Already saving two penalties in a Celtic jersey since arriving last month, he’s vindicated Lennon’s faith in him as number one choice ahead of Craig Gordon.

The former England international is loving his time working with the Hoops boss.

During Monday’s press conference, he said: “The big thing with the gaffer is he is such a good man manager. He’s so good at knowing what each player needs, whether they need shouted at or need an arm around them.

“I think he’s just got that experience, he’s a bit older and he just knows what to say to people to get the best out of people.

“Things are always easier in football when you’re winning, but I think he’s brilliant. He’s got good people around him and I think he is a top class manager.”

Exceeding expectations

When Lennon was given the permanent manager’s job in May it provoked a bit of negative reaction. He had his fair share of supporters, but plenty felt he was the wrong choice to take the club forward.

Right now it has to be said he is exceeding expectations.

The poor result against Cluj still stings, but the former captain has done almost everything asked of him since taking his place in the dugout in February.

That we have started the season so well is a credit to the work’s done over the summer. From signing the right players to preparing the team physically, as well as mentally, we look an improved outfit compared to last term.

It’s pleasing to hear experienced professionals like Forster mark him out as a superb manager. If the players are happy then results will surely follow, given their quality.
