Celtic great Kenny Dalglish has touched on the first-hand experience he’s had when it comes to the mentality of new signing Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The Hoops have acquired the Tottenham Hotspur centre-back on loan until the end of the season. The club has an option to buy should his campaign in Scotland go to plan.
Celtic fans have been hearing plenty of positive remarks about their new man since the deadline day signing. USA football expert Larry Henry Jr believes Hoops supporters will adore the player. And now it’s Kenny’s turn to talk up what he thinks of the on-loan Spurs man. As the Parkhead icon hailed the summer work carried out by the Hoops, he retold of a time he encountered the USA international in a reserve match.
Speaking via his Sunday Post column, Dalglish said: “Celtic rounded off their business by adding Georgios Giakoumakis, Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers to the squad on the final day. All three look the part, and will increase the quality in the squad.
“I watched Carter-Vickers in action for Tottenham’s reserves in a game against Liverpool, and he looked an excellent professional. His attitude was spot-on.
“I think the day before, he had been an unused sub for the first-team, but still travelled to Merseyside in an exemplary frame of mind.”
Kenny Dalglish hails Celtic signing ahead of crucial period
Carter-Vickers on loan is an impressive piece of business from Celtic. However, it’s not the only promising-looking deal the Hoops have finalised this summer.
Everyone, including ourselves at 67HailHail, was constantly going on about how big a job the board had in the summer. It was a full-blown overhaul Celtic needed to get rid of the mess from last season.
The job isn’t complete, but a massive phase of it has been. Celtic managed to bring 12 players to the football club. Many of them are already making heavy impacts in the first-team. That’s exactly what the doctor ordered in the summer.

The addition of Carter-Vickers undoubtedly raised Celtic supporters’ delight with the transfer window too. Beforehand, there was a frustration that the centre-back position had been left with only one addition in Carl Starfelt. Carter-Vickers coming on board was a big move from the club.
You also have to praise the terms Celtic have managed to seal in this loan deal too. With it being an option to buy, it takes away a lot of the criticism that comes with temporary agreements. The choice is there for Celtic to keep him for the long-term, and therefore we have a guarantee there if things go well.
It’s no surprise to see the likes of Dalglish big up our summer work. Truth be told – it’s deserved. Carter-Vickers is only one of a number of promising-looking signings.
