John Kennedy has named his Celtic team for today’s clash against St Johnstone at Celtic Park.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Barkas, Kenny, Ajer, Welsh, Montgomery, Brown (C), Turnbull, Christie, Elyounoussi, Forrest, Edouard

Substitutes – Hazard, Taylor, Griffiths, Ajeti, Soro, Johnston, Dembele, Laxalt

Of course, we already know the headline here: it’s Scott Brown’s final home game as Celtic captain. The number 8 is making his 610th appearance in all competitions for the Bhoys [Transfermarkt], in an incredible tenure at the club. 22 trophies, including 9IAR and a Quadruple Treble surely says everything anyone would need to know about the captain.

It’s a debut for Adam Montgomery, the striker-turned-winger-turned-left-back, who has featured in multiple squads thus far. While he hasn’t made any appearances from the bench, the young left-back is surely desperate to get going.

Barkas returns to the side after a prolonged absence, following an injury to Scott Bain.

St Johnstone are one of Scotland’s in-form sides. Callum Davidson has done a fantastic job with the Saints, who are on the cusp of a domestic double. With 4 wins in their last 6, including 3 on the trot [WhoScored?], it’s a difficult tie for Broony’s ‘Last Dance’ at Paradise in the Green and White.

Celtic v St Johnstone broadcast details

It’s a home game, and one with considerable sentimental value, so the game is on the club’s ‘Pass To Paradise’ streaming service for season ticket holders.

Celtic TV will be broadcasting live coverage, for subscribers outside of the UK & Ireland.

Celtic v St Johnstone will available in audio from the BBC Sport website. The BBC will also have live text coverage for all the Scottish Premiership matches taking place this evening.

Fan reaction to Celtic team v St Johnstone

We were promised squad rotation, and here it is. Supporters are clearly pleased to see Adam Montgomery and Vasilis Barkas getting nods, while the rest of the team has a more familiar feel.

With the sense of occasion on the players’ minds, surely to God Celtic have enough about them to beat Callum Davidson’s side tonight. While the league is over, it would be a huge disservice to Broony for the Bhoys not to play up and show supporters there’s something to look forward to in the near future.
