Celtic have an ace up their sleeve in derby allocation drama; they’re not using it

Next week, Celtic will have just 700 fans inside Ibrox for a defining Premiership derby.

Of course, this is par for the course nowadays, ever since Rangers slashed our away support and weakened the fixture as a whole.

Celtic have been clear throughout, with a return the old days of 7/8,000 visiting supporters the club’s preference. (Daily Record)

But that seems a long way off, so what can Celtic do in the mean-time?

Celtic should be open about Ibrox allocation

The truth is that you’d be hard pressed to find a Celtic fan who wouldn’t like to go back to the days of the Broomloan being packed by Hoops supporters.

It’s not in the club’s interests to devalue such an important fixture, neither is it in the league’s.

They may not all admit it, but many Rangers fans are hankering for a return to the good old days too. This fixture means as much to them as it does us.

Celtic are in the right here. We’ve got the backing of the majority, even outside of Scotland.

So why don’t we use the ace up our sleeve and go public?

Put out a transparent statement outlining the reasons for our acceptance of our paltry Ibrox allocation, and what we want going forward.

Draw our line in the sand and turn the heat up on the other side of the city.

The Celtic support is with the club on this one, but it would be great to know exactly what it is we’re proposing and what Rangers are saying about it.

We should have nothing to hide. So let’s hear it.

Otherwise, this will just continue behind closed doors for seasons to come.
