Celtic reportedly have a new name on the list of candidates to replace Brendan Rodgers.

Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney are temporarily in charge while the Hoops search for their successor, with a host of names linked to the job.

Kieran McKenna is under serious consideration for the role, while other reports have claimed that Robbie Keane has applied to become the manager.

Several others have been tipped for the job too, but now another name has entered the fray.

Club Brugge boss Nicky Hayen of interest to Celtic

According to Belgian media outlet Nieuwsblad, Celtic have ‘concrete interest’ in Club Brugge manager Nicky Hayen.

The 45-year-old has caught the eye, particularly for his work in Europe after guiding Brugge to the Champions League knockouts last season and hammering Rangers 9-1 on aggregate in this year’s qualifiers.

Celtic drew with Brugge in the competition last season but despite going in search of another league title, Hayen has reportedly admitted that he would be open to leaving.

He told the outlet: “I know I’m on the shortlist, but everything has to be right. Suppose a club from Saudi Arabia comes, but my family can’t come along, then it’s not a good fit.”

One stumbling block could be that the Bhoys would have to fork out for compensation if they were to make an immediate appointment after he signed a new contract earlier this year.
