The reported interest in Lee Congerton is growing by the day it seems.
Celtic’s Head of Recruitment is reportedly looking to leave the club. This comes just a week or so after Brendan Rodgers, the man who brought him in, also left for Leicester City.
The Foxes were one of the clubs apparently tracking Congerton. Rodgers’ close links with the Welshman had him reportedly keen on reuniting with him at the King Power Stadium.

But interest in Congerton is apparently high. According to Sky Sports, Anderlecht are once again keen on bringing him to Belgium.
The prospect of a move abroad apparently interests Congerton too. Sky have also reported that there is also strong interest from the MLS. Two clubs are looking at the current Celtic Head of Recruitment.
This is looking like one inevitable departure
Despite reports about Celtic wanting Congerton to become a Sporting Director, that doesn’t look likely. Instead, it feels as though Congerton’s departure from Celtic Park is inevitable.
This could easily open the door in the summer for an overhaul of the scouting department at Celtic. For too long, the club have been bringing flops through the door.
The likes of Marvin Compper, Jack Hendry, Eboue Kouassi, and Cristian Gamboa are just a few of the wasted buys over the last few years under Rodgers.

The arrival of Congerton was exciting at the time, but he’s flattered to deceive. There have been some shoots of promise in the form of Odsonne Edouard, Timothy Weah, Oliver Burke, and Olivier Ntcham to name some. But too much money has been wasted on players that aren’t providing Celtic with anything.
A move for Congerton suits all parties here. The Welshman can get out and have a fresh start. Celtic, meanwhile, can put an effective scouting structure in place for the new season.
Good luck to him when he does go, but he’s hardly left a legacy of good work here. In the end, he’ll be remembered as just another of Rodgers’ failures.
