Celtic hero Aiden McGeady has enjoyed quite the football career after breaking through the youth ranks at the Bhoys in 2004.
The former Republic of Ireland international made 231 Celtic appearances, scoring 36 times alongside claiming 48 assists across all competitions.
Playing his part in seven trophies, Aiden McGeady then went on to star for Spartak Moscow, Everton and Sunderland, among others, before returning to the Scottish Premiership with Hibernian in 2022.

Winning no fewer than 92 caps at international level, the Denny-born man then joined Ayr United before leaving the Honest Men earlier this season.
Now, the Celtic Academy product has made a major career decision that is bound to pique supporters’ interest.
Celtic hero Aiden McGeady retires from professional football
Per Alex Crook on X, McGeady has retired from professional football after enjoying a distinguished senior career spanning 20 years.
Accompanying the post, the journalist simply wrote: “Former #CelticFC and #SAFC midfielder Aiden McGeady has retired from professional football.”
Undoubtedly, McGeady goes down as one of Celtic’s finest players in recent memory. His flair and trickery on the flanks made him almost unplayable on his day, and it is no surprise he went on to carve out a prolonged stay in the Premier League after leaving Glasgow’s east end.
It is unclear where his head is with his playing days now at an end, but he is a regular in punditry circles and behind the mic.
Aiden McGeady’s brilliant spell at Celtic
From the trademark ‘McGeady spin’ to being a match-winner for Celtic in countless high-profile encounters, the Irishman exemplified how to operate on the left flank.
Past rumours of a McGeady return to the Bhoys while at Everton never materialised, which is maybe the only regret for his adoring public.
Whatever he does in retirement, hopefully, he can continue to crop in in Scottish football circles either on the punditry or coaching circuit.
